Language Is Not A Barrier

This happened during one of my overseas trip with my dance group at Korea. It was probably around September last year. We went there for the Cheonan World Dance Festival. Since it was a competition that was held at an international level, there were delegates from more than 20 countries. Since there are too many countries involved, I shall not name all of them. However, there was this girl from Uzbekistan that talked to me. It will just be a normal conversation if she was able to converse in English. However she was conversing in a language that i don't even know of. In the end I just ended up nodding my head throughout the whole conversation. I felt bad that I wasn't that responsive to her and she made me want to find out more about Uzbekistan. I went to find out more about Uzbekistan first language in order to understand her better after I got back to the hotel. The next day, I went up to her and tried talking to her. Though there were many loopholes in the conversation, I felt a sense of achievement that I was able to talk to her though I did use many sign language to aid the conversation. During the last day of the festival, we exchanged emails and we are still talking up till now. What I'm trying to say is that even though we speak different language, it is still possible to create respectable bonds between each other. I find this very heartwarming that people are able to communicate although we don't speak the same language. With that, I hope that more people can open up to creating friendship even when they are not someone who is from your country. Together, we can make this world a better place to live in.
